Terraria All Bosses – How many Bosses are in Terraria?

If you are a fan of 2D action-adventure games, you must be knowing about “Terraria“. Popularly known for its Bosses (also Terraria Bosses) – It is an amazing game available for both PC and consoles. If you ask me, it is a god-like game if you like such games and no wonder why it’s been one of the greatest games of all time.

The best part of this game is: the never-ending exploration, crafting, building, and the boss fights. Of course, the bosses in Terraria are the most challenging part of the game. Unlike any other game, you just can’t level up and go head on with the Terraria bosses. You need to craft the right items, have the correction potions, and build a base to help you strategize the attack.

Yes, you have to be prepared in order to defeat the bosses. If you do not, enjoy dying in peace!

Terraria All Bosses – How many Bosses are in Terraria?

So, in this article, we will take a look at all the Terraria bosses there are and will describe them in detail – to help you defeat them or know about them to prepare yourself.

How do you summon bosses in Terraria?

Even though you see Terraria as a simple 2D sandbox game, it isn’t really. There’s a lot going on. If you were to play something like contra, you will encounter boss fights when you reach the end of the level. But, that’s not how Terraria works.

You will have to mine ores and keep exploring the randomly generated levels to craft items, upgrade your armor, and get the magical potions. Only when you have the right tools and the right time (some bosses can only be summoned in the night time) – then you can summon the terraria bosses.

Be prepared before you summon a boss! Happy killing mate!

Types of Bosses in Terraria

There are three levels or types of bosses in Terraria. The first bunch you will encounter are the “Pre-Hardmode bosses” and then you will have “Hardmode bosses“.

In between, there will be certain events – where you will get to observe new bosses temporarily. If you miss encountering them, you might probably never get to see them again.

We could categorize the bosses with even more details – but that would be unnecessary. So, we’ll mention all the Terraria bosses by dividing them according to their level (pre-hardmode and hardmode).

1. Pre-Hardmode Bosses

King Slime

King Slime is one of the first bosses in Terraria that you will encounter when playing this game. It has 2000 health – but – 2800, if you opt for the expert mode of gameplay.

Eye of Cthulhu

The chances of this boss to spawn is always rare. But, in order to be sure, you need to have 200 HP, or more. If you could have 3 NPCs living in a house – that could increase the chances as well.

Unlike the first boss, this one comes with 2800 HP in the normal mode and 3600 in the expert mode. It can travel through blocks – so be careful. And, considering the chances and the conditions required to summon it – you should try to defeat it the first time you encounter.

Eater of Worlds

The eater of worlds is a challenging boss that you will encounter in the corruption region at anytime of the day. Summoning it is a bit easier – considering that you have to break shadow orbs or consume worm food (every 3rd of it will summon it).

Of course, as you can see in the image that it’s in the shape of a worm – but not just without the front to attack. The more you cut it – the more attacks you should expect from every pack of it.

However, you need the primary head without the body to hit in order to kill it. It can pass through tiles – so be careful about that.

Brain of Cthulhu

The easiest one to defeat with just 1000 HP in normal mode and it will have more health in the expert mode. However, to summon it, you will have to use the Bloody spine or break Crimson Heart (3 times). Sounds pretty good, right?

A ranged weapon would be recommended if you want to defeat this boss in Terraria. The rest depends on you – go on!

Queen Bee

Oh no, a bee?! Heck, I wouldn’t even dare to go head to head with one in real life! Well, jokes apart, when you go to destroy Queen Bee’s larva – it will spawn in the Queen Bee. If you don’t know where it is, you should start searching for it in the Underground Jungle.

The HP doesn’t change in expert mode, the attack rate increases. So, you will have to be prepared. The witch doctor will spawn in when you defeat the Bee, but that’s about it – you will not get anything very important as a reward.

Skeletron

Skeletron is an annoying Terraria boss – I tell you. To summon it, you need to interact with the Old Man NPC. Do note that this can be done only at night – in the dungeon.

The interesting part of it is – you need to defeat it before the night. If you fail to do so, the Skeletron can kill you in one hit. And, will despawn then.

Wall of Flesh

This is the last and the most powerful boss in the pre-hardmode. And, with a whopping 8000 HP, it is very tough to defeat it – unless you’ve explored and crafted most of the important things.

You need to throw a Guide Voodoo Doll into the pool of lava. When it spawns in, you cannot flee the battle. If you think about it, you will get severe damage or even end up dead.

When it gets enough damage, it will start moving faster and would try to reach the end of the map. You will have to defeat it anyway – orelse if it manages to despawn, any living player in the Underworld will die.

2. Hardmode Bosses

Hardmode bosses in Terraria are basically the same what you already encountered – but with enhancements and upgrades. They’ll look somewhat similar as well.

Let’s get right into it:

The Twins

An upgrade to the Eye of Cthulhu in hardmode. This time it has two eyes, instead of one. One of the eye (retinizer) spawns with 20,000 HP and the green one (spazmatism) spawns with 23,000 HP. So, it’s a big step up from the pre-hardmode bosses – make sure you are ready for it!

You can summon them using the mechanical eye at night. Both the eyes will attack differently – and upon lowering their health, they will transform to attack faster as well.

The Destroyer

This is another hardmode version of “Eater of World” with 80,000 HP – which is insane. Even though it has a massive amount of health – it is quite easier to defeat.

Unlike the Twins, it doesn’t pose a challenge with two separate attacks and transformations. You can summon it using the mechanical worm – but only at night.

Skeletron Prime

Oh no, it’s not Optimus Prime. So, it is definitely not on your side. It has a whopping 59,000 of HP including 28,000 HP for the head alone. Similar to the wall of flesh, if you do not defeat it in time, it can kill you in just a single hit.

Plantera

You will encounter it in the Underground Jungle. For that, you need to destroy plantera’s bulb. It spawns in with 30,000 HP and make sure that it does not follow you when you exit the jungle. If you do that, its power will multiply 3x times and will probably kill you.

It is not something dangerous – but don’t be too overconfident.

Golem

Ring any bells? Oh, Clash of Clans? Well, if you are into mobile games, you must be knowing it. Don’t worry, it’s nothing like it.

You will encounter this Terraria boss on your way in the the Jungle Temple when you use a Lihzard power cell. It spawns in the with 39,000 of HP and it has two phases of attack. The first one is when the head is attached to its body – when you damage it, the head will detach and fly over it while the body will jump around quickly.

Duke Fishron

A hybrid boss with a mixture of pig-fish-dragon. It’s a deadly boss which spawns in with 50,000 HP and rams you to damage severely. It is easy to defeat if you have Wings equipped – or else – it will be challenging.

You need to use a Truffle worm in an Ocean biome to summon it.

Lunatic Cultist

The Lunatic Cultist is an interesting one – you will have to kill four cultists outside the dungeon whom you can observe after killing the golem.

You need a good strategy to defeat this boss.

Moon Lord

Moon Lord is the final version of Terraria and it is exciting. When the Lunar events kick in after defeating Lunatic Cultist, you will have to destroy all the Celestial towers in order to summon the lord.

He spawns in with a total health of 1,45,000 and is considered to be the toughest among all. You need to first get the hands, which will open up its chest and then you can give the final attack to its chest to kill it.

Wrapping Up

There are a variety of Terraria Bosses – and with updates, you can expect major overhauls and additions as well. In addition to the primary bosses mentioned here, you will encounter event bosses as well – which will spawn in for a limited time for all the players and will disappear after the event ends, no matter whether you defeat it or summoned it.
