Insert Pictures into Excel Cell – How to Add Picture into Excel Cell?

An Excel document from a friend and you would want to leave your feedback about the description. While adding a comment to a particular cell in the worksheet would suffice, posting a picture can be more insightful. Especially, when you need to explain formulas or describe something meaningful, inserting pictures into Excel cell makes sense.

It is also a helpful way to store images along with that data. For example, you might have a spreadsheet of products and SKUs that you send to customers, and including an extra column of data with an image of the product provides an easy way to for them to see all of the relevant information in one place.

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program that is part of the Microsoft Office suite. It is primarily an application for processing numbers and text with some options for including pictures. Although you can easily insert an image into spreadsheet pages, you cannot insert it into an individual cell. Also, you can find a Reset option that allows removing all formatting changes made and return the picture to the state it was in when you initially inserted it into the worksheet.

Insert the image into a comment is another way of anchoring the graphic to a particular location. The picture does not appear within the cell itself but rather in a popup near the cell. This method is thus not so useful for decorative art. However, it works well for parenthetical images that are helpful but may impede the flow of the spreadsheet. For example, if you have a column of house prices and a total, you can attach a comment picture of each house next to each price. That way, the pictures don’t interrupt the column, but yet can pop up if the user wants to see what a home of a certain price looks like.

However, if you want to lock the image to a cell in Excel 2010, then you need to follow a couple of other steps as well. This will allow you to cut and paste the columns in your spreadsheet and include the picture along with the cells.

Step 1: Position the image so that it is contained entirely within the cell.

Step 2: Right-click the picture, then click Size and Properties.

Step 3: Click Properties in the column at the left side of the Format Picture window.

Step 4: Check the option to the left of Move and size with cells, then click the Close button.
