5 Simple Steps to Get Started Blogging

So here is a quick list of those five simple steps to start blogging. Check out this. This might be very helpful if you are about to start blogging.

1. Select A Blogging Platform

Choosing a blogging platform is first and foremost step towards your blogging journey. If you are a newbie, here by “Blogging platform” I mean to say that selecting a blogging platform is determining that where are you going to blog? With whom you are going to create your blog?

There are various platforms available over the web. So you can choose from a wide range of blogging platforms like Blogger, WordPress, Weebly, Joomla, Drupal, Tumblr, etc. But obviously, Blogger and WordPress are the best two which are ruling over the web these days. Both of them have their features and advantages over other, and these two are competing for each other most.

I have discussed Blogger Vs WordPress in this post. Now, you have to choose one that suits your needs as well as the one which is best for you.

2. Choose Your Domain Name

Selecting a domain name means choosing a URL for your blog. You have two options either you can choose a free domain name or buy a custom domain by paying the charge. If you are new to these terms, let me illustrate you these terms with an example.

Consider about Facebook, most of us know about social networking site Facebook. When you type https://www.facebook.com in your web browser, it directs to Facebook. It means http://www.facebook.com is URL of Facebook. If its domain would have been taken for free from blogger its domain would have been http://www.facebook.blogspot.com, and if it would have been taken from WordPress for free, then its domain name would have been http://www.facebook.wordpress.com. Thanks to them, they have bought a custom domain by paying the domain name charge to .com that’s why we have a short URL for Facebook. So http://www.facebook.com is a custom domain.

Hope this example would have cleared every doubt in your mind. If still there exists any doubt in your mind, please let us know your problems below in comment section.

3. Pick A Niche

Now that you have set up your blog, it’s time to select your niche. Choosing a niche is the most important step of blogging. For those who are new to this term, let me tell you “Niche” determines your blog content is going about what?

For example, if I’m writing about blogging, SEO, Social Media, etc. , it means “Blogging Tips and SEO” is the niche of my blog. Selecting a niche may be difficult sometimes even with a large number of options present there to choose. But my recommendation would be – pick the one in which you have expertise. Because if you are painting and art lover, it would be challenging for you to succeed with a blog about technology.

Choose the one that suits your interest but keep an eye on what niches are going hot and hotter. So be smart enough to do your research and decide what you desire.

4. Post Content

It’s often said that CONTENT IS KING and that is entirely accurate because the success of your blog depends upon the quality of your content. If you are not posting quality content (here by “Quality Content” I mean to say that content that adds values and helps readers learn something new), you might attract them for some time, but in the long run, you would be in loss. Because if readers would not get something valuable, they will definitely ignore to come back.

Also along with quality, SEO(Search Engine Optimization) matters. Because if your content is not SEO friendly, the chances are that your posts would be ignored by search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. And you would be losing tons of organic traffic.
